Cerocahui, Mexico - Set 1

Cerocahui, Mexico -  The church of San Francisco Javier de Cerocahui
was founded in 1680.  This church is where the mission trail, which heads
northwest from here into California, started.  The Jesuit priest Juan Maria Salvatierra
founded the church and was the priest here for ten years.  In 1767 the Spanish Crown
recalled the Jesuits and the church was closed. The next recorded history from
this church is in 1939 when another Jesuit priest, Padre Andres Lara, returned
to this location.  In 1940, Lara began reconstruction of the church.
It was completed and consecrated in 1955.
