The American Bullfrog tadpoles shown here were photographed in the Middle Fork of the Gila River, in the Gila Wilderness, New Mexico on June 6, 2018. Metamorphosis of the tadpole into an adult frog takes from several months in the southern part of its range to up to three years in the northern part of its range.
