Whistling-Duck, Black-bellied 2

Dendrocygna autumnalis, Black-bellied Whistling-Duck
October-November 2017 at the main pond at Rancho Primavera, Jalisco
This species is found from northern Argentina to the southern United States.
Very common at Rancho Primavera during this time period with multiple family
groups sharing the pond.  We often saw this species perched on snags
during our visit to Rancho Primavera, they nest in trees and were formerly
known as Black-bellied Tree-Ducks.  Nest is descriptive of a process, however,
they do not build nests - they simply lay their eggs where they choose.  This species
forms life-long pair bonds and are known to live in excess of 10 years.
